Using Dropbox for CSV File Transfer and Product Photos
Tutoriel complet:
Dropbox offers two modes of operation:
-
Create and share files with changes directly on the Dropbox server.
- This option is not 100% compatible with Spartoo tools. It is strongly discouraged to use this mode for flows
-
File sharing with creation and modification of the file on the PC and automatic synchronization between the local file and its version on the server
- This mode allows you to use Dropbox as a file-sharing server
- The file is not modified in the synchronization / download sequence between the local computer and the Dropbox server
- It is strongly recommendedto use this mode for feeds

Storing a file on the Dropbox server
- Save the file with the name C:\...\mon-catalogue\catalogue_spartoo.csv
- Copy the file to the folder C:\....\dropbox\ - The update / synchronization is done after a few seconds
Updating a file on the Dropbox server
- Open, edit, and save the file C:\...\mon-catalogue\catalogue_spartoo.csv with Excel or Libreoffice
- Copy the file to the folder C:\....\dropbox\ - The update / synchronization is done after a few seconds
- Always make changes in the file C:\...\mon-catalogue\catalogue_spartoo.csv
- After making all the changes you have to save it in the same place.
- Then you have to copy / paste the file from C:\...\mon-catalogue\ vers C:\....\dropbox \
- Never open/write the file in C:\....\dropbox\
- This is to avoid importing a partially updated file if the user has the good practice of saving the changes regularly (every 5-10 min.) to avoid losing them.
Retrieve the file url on Dropbox
On the Dropbox server (https://www.dropbox.com/home)
- Position the cursor on the file and click on Share
- Select Copy link
- the url is copied to the clipboard in the format https://www.dropbox.com/s/1tx3djnxltzbqxw/fichier_test_dropbox.csv?dl=0
- NB! after pasting the url in an email, replace the option dl=0 with dl=1 before sending the url to Spartoo
Storing images on Dropbox
- The same principles apply as for CSV files.
- It is possible to store images in a folder inside the Dropbox folder (par ex. C:\…\Dropbox\photos\
- NB! As for the CSV file it is necessary to replace the option dl = 0 by dl = 1 after having inserted the url of the image in the file CSV
