When can a baby have his first shoes on ?
Each baby develops at the pace that best suits him or her. It is not useful or advisable to put shoes on babies before they are able to stand up. However, it is still important to protect their little feet. Once your child is able to walk, you can buy them their first shoes with a real sole.
At what age should you buy shoes for your baby?
It's not a question of age, the main criterion for buying shoes for your baby is his ability to walk, if he doesn't stand up yet it's simply that his feet are not ready yet to support him.
- As a general guide, here are the common age steps for buying shoes for your baby:
- Your baby is less than 9 months old: He does not need rigid shoes, socks are sufficient. Take particular care that his feet are not tight
- From 9 months: You can think about a first pair of baby shoes, preferring very soft leather slippers that only form a protective layer for his feet.
- From 18 months: Your child's foot starts to ossify, the cartilage becomes bone, you can buy him his first baby shoes with insoles or sandals for girls or boys!
- Indicators of when to put on your child's shoes :
- When your child is able to stand for more than half the day
- Two to three months after his first steps
- When he has his 18 months old
